Woodland Hexi Baby Quilt

Woodland Hexi Baby Quilt

Alright, I really think I'm in love with hexagon quilts. Completely thanks to the Jaybird Quilts Hex N More ruler - I'm not much of a specialty gadget person but that ruler is worth every penny for these projects. It took a few tries to remember "do I overlap by a 1/4" or no..." and I still haven't worked out all the math, but diving in without much of a plan has been working out well so far...

I used an assortment of Art Gallery Fabrics in various green and mint, and stuck to a woodland theme. The back is Shannon cuddle minky in silver - the best minky backing to work with, in my opinion.
I'm getting better and better at working with minky on my domestic machine. It's especially challenging because of it's weight and bulk, but SO WORTH IT. Practice practice practice - and lots of spray baste!
I used a black print from an old Gingiber line called Catnip for the binding - this entire quilt was sewn from my stash in an effort to use what I have, so many are long gone prints.
This quilt has been listed in my shop as a ready-to-ship item, a rarity for me to do. But coming out of the throes of babyhood for good had me itching to sew something for fun and this fast project was just the perfect piece.
