Wild Soul - purple and teal version

Wild Soul - purple and teal version

This feels like the wildest Wild Soul I've made! I had a co-worker who commissioned a quilt and sent me a gorgeous purple, teal, and yellow abstract painting for inspiration. I knew right away this large scale print by Bari J was absolutely perfect for the backing and unusually, started designing backwards!

(If you love floral paintings, check her out - she is an artist and surface pattern designer that shows up in my quilts often. I love her work!)

We went with a thoroughly scrappy design and I used pieces of all my very favorite prints throughout. I can spot strips and bits from just about every project prior to this one in her quilt - quintessential patchwork.

Moda Grunge was relatively new when I made this, and we chose it for the background because she had two little dogs and didn't want something that would show dirt or stains easily.

Quilted by Abby Latimer of Latimer Lane Quilting in wavy vertical lines.

I started the Project Blog in an effort to document a portfolio of work over the years, and I'm so grateful. I don't have this quilt, that co-worker, or even that house and yard anymore! And while life moves only forward, never back, I still might be able to get my hands on some more of that gorgeous backing fabric! :)
